Counties must often restrict or close roads on account of emergency conditions, embargos, maintenance work and projects. The County 511 section provides current road usabilty. This map offers access to information on road closures in a number of counties. Highlighted counties are currently reporting active restrictions due to projects, maintenance work, embargos and emergencies, along with detour routes.

Iowa 511 is the Iowa Department of Transportation's (DOT) official traffic and traveler information website. The Iowa 511 website provides statewide up-to-date traffic information for interstates, U.S. routes and state highways in Iowa.  This website does not include condition or information for county or city roads.  
The Iowa 511 website will allow you to view construction projects, road conditions and traffic cameras from the Iowa DOT.  It also contains tools to be used for trip planning, Iowa road maps, as well as safety information for travelers in Iowa.
