On Monday, the CDC updated isolation and exposure guidance. This guidance is what public health departments use when contacting positive cases and when answering questions from the public. This updated guidance is as follows:
Positive COVID case recommendations:
  • Stay home for 5 days.
  • If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house.
  • Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
COVID exposure: if you are boosted or completed your primary 2 dose series less than 6 months ago (2 months for J&J) recommendations:
  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
  • Test on day 5, if possible.
  • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home
COVID exposure: if you are unvaccinated or completed your primary 2 dose series more than 6 months ago (2 months for J&J) recommendations:
  • Stay home for 5 days. After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
  • If you can’t quarantine you must wear a mask for 10 days.
  • Test on day 5 if possible.
  • If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home.
