  • Modernized office technology resulting in more efficiency when assisting customers
  • Encourage staff to attend customer service relations educational opportunities
  • Incorporating weekly team huddles to improve lines of communication and create a more positive work environment
  • Upgraded from separate indexing and imaging software’s to a single source software for seamless indexing, imaging and cashiering
  • Parsed 30,000 legal descriptions
  • Upgraded microfilm reader printer
  • Digitized marriage applications from 1997 to current – which are required by law to be permanently retained by the county of issuance
  • Continuously working to digitize records such as deeds, mortgages, plats, affidavits, power of attorney, etc.
  • Stay apprized with current laws such as the DOT transition to the Real ID and providing our customers with any and all information needed to obtain marriage and birth certificates throughout the country
  • Organized record vault to allow for a quicker, easier and more seamless searching process as well as creating a safer environment for staff in obtaining records with floor to ceiling shelving
  • Using social media through Facebook and Instagram to communicate with the public on important notices, in addition to using necessary County Media outlets
  • Effectively manage an $350,000-$400,000 operating budget while generating approximately $200,000 in revenue per year
  • Successfully hired 4 staff members after former staff deservingly retired after a combined total of approximately 80 years of Webster County
  • Built a complete electronic military index of all military records recorded within Webster County - currently in a final verification process
  • Created an email renewal reminder list for DNR Boats, Snowmobiles and ATVS to help customers avoid late penalty fees
  • Digitized 21,751 DNR Boats, Snowmobiles & ATV records – program was built February 2020 and completed May 2021

About Lindsay

Lindsay Laufersweiler, a Fort Dodge native, is a 2008 graduate of Saint Edmond High School. She began her higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before transferring home to Iowa Central Community College where she proudly graduated with her Associate of Arts degree.  From there, she continued her studies at Northwest Missouri State University receiving her Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communications.  Lindsay received a soccer scholarship at all three institutions. In 2015, Lindsay was elected the Webster County Recorder and continues to serve honorably in her position.  Still passionate about learning and bettering our community, Lindsay stays actively involved in local, state, and national associations.  Lindsay and her husband Tom have three wonderful children, Addison (4), Knox (3) and Ellesyn (1) and together they enjoy spending time with family and friends.
