RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COUNTY ATTORNEY

One of the primary responsibilities of the Webster County Attorney is to ensure the protection of our community by overseeing prosecutions for violations of State Law and County Ordinances which occur in Webster County.  These violations and criminal acts range from scheduled traffic violations to the most serious criminal offenses, such as First Degree Murder. 

The County Attorney also provides investigation assistance and legal counsel to local law enforcement agencies in Webster County, including the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Webster County Sheriff's Office, the Gowrie Police Department, the Dayton Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.

The County Attorney also acts as legal counsel for the Webster County Board of Supervisors and for all other Webster County elected officials and unelected County department heads.  The County Attorney is responsible for enforcement of Webster County's Code of Ordinances, including the prosecution of civil infractions for violations of the ordinances.
